Overview

MT3339 and MT3333 are high-performance single-chip GPS solution which includes on-chip CMOS RF, digital baseband, ARM7 CPU and an embedded flash.They are able to achieve the industry's highest level of sensitivity, accuracy and Time-to-First-Fix (TTFF) with the lowest power consumption in a small footprint.

MT3339/MT3333 combined with many advanced features including AlwaysLocate^TM, EASY^TM, EPO and logger function, they provide always-on position with minimal average power consumption. These great features provide supreme experiences for portable applications.

Because different application(Wi-Fi, GSM/GPRS, 3G/4G, Bluetooth) are integrated into navigation system, the harmonic of RF signal will influence the GPS reception. The multi-tone active interference canceller(abbr:MTAIC) can reject external RFinterference which come from other active components on the main board, to improve the capacity of GPS reception without any need HW change in the design.

AlwaysLocate^TM

Always Locate is an intelligent controller of MT3339/MT3333 periodic mode. Depending on the environment and motion conditions, MT3339/MT3333 can adaptive adjust the on/off time to achieve balance of positioning accuracy and power consumption.

Embedded need to be executed fully all time, the algorithm can be set by different necessary to decide the operation level of GPS function, reduce power consumption, it will suffer positing accuracy to get the target of power saving and extend the usage time of product.

EPO^TM (Extended Prediction Orbit) data service, world leading technology for supporting 7/14-days orbit prediction to customers. Need occasional download from EPO server.

The AGPS(EPO in flash) supply the predicated Extended Prediction Orbit data to speed TTFF, users can download the EPO data to GPS engine from the FTP server by internet or wireless network, the GPS engine will use the EPO data to assist position calculation when the navigation information of satellites are not enough or weak signal zone.

LOCUS is the name of MT3339/MT3333 innate logger solution, the embedded logger function don't need host CPU(MCU) and external flash to handle the operation, GPS engine will use internal flash(embedded in GPS chipset) to log the GPS data(Data format: UTC, Latitude, Valid, Checksum).

Logger capability in MT3339/MT3333 internal flash(128KB): Smart overlapping mechanism to keep latest logger data, user can log >32 hours. With AlwaysLocate^TM mode, user can log up 48 hours(2 days) under standard scenario.

EASY^TM is the abbreviation of Embedded Assist System that for quick positioning, the GPS engine will calculate and predict automatically the single ephemeris (Max. up to 3 days) when power on, and save the predict information into the memory, GPS engine will use these information for positioning if no enough information from satellites, so the function will be helpful for positioning and TTFF improvement under indoor or urban condition, the Backup power(VBackup) is necessary.

When GPS device gets the satellite information from GPS satellites, the GPS engine automatically pre-calculate the predict orbit information for 3 days. The GPS devices still can quickly do the positioning with EASYTM function under weak GPS signal.
